Two weeks ago DutchBasecamp hosted a workshop on internationalisation strategy for 10 scaleUps who are participating in the StartupAmsterdam Interreg Lean Landing programme: Stranded Flight Solutions, SOWISO, FeedbackFruits, Careibu, MedAssist.online, Innovation Booster, WizeNoze, Ligo, Patient Journey App and Peaks.
Our trainer Marc Wullings provided a practical tool to define the most relevant market(s) for their business, how to plan for international success, how to budget etc. Also, the most common mistakes for international failure and several success stories were addressed.
The participants gained new insights, applauded the practical tool and said that “the structured approach towards country selection will be very helpful in the internationalization strategy process”. Striking were the participants who came in with their thoughts fully geared towards the UK, but walked out with Sweden in mind as a better fit for their first scaling activities. As we are gathering the output of the workshop we can tell that the target markets of the participants are: Sweden, the UK, and Germany.
In order to increase the chances for success in the countries where the participants aim to scale to, DutchBasecamp will organise several follow-up workshops together with international partners within the Interreg Lean Landing project. The content of the workshops and trainings is based on the input of the participating scaleUps (which questions do they have, what are their assumptions with regards to their target market etc.). We are looking forward! To be continued..
